How do you check your mutual fund KYC status?
Key facts
- You can check KYC status online with just your PAN on a KRA website, with no login.
- There are five SEBI-registered KRAs, namely CAMS KRA, CVL KRA, KFin KRA, NDML and DotEx.
- The status returned is Validated, Registered, or On-Hold.
- An On-Hold status means transactions are blocked until the flagged issue is resolved.
A one-minute check
You can see your KYC status yourself, without help and without a login. Go to an official KYC Registration Agency website, such as CVL KRA or CAMS KRA, enter your PAN, and it shows your status. Because the five KRAs share records, any of them will do.
A word of caution: enter your PAN only on the official KRA sites. If a message asks you to "verify your KYC" through a link, treat it with suspicion.
Reading the result
The status comes back as one of three: Validated, Registered, or On-Hold. Broadly, Validated is the fully verified state and the most portable, Registered is verified but not fully validated, and On-Hold means something is wrong and you cannot transact until it is fixed. Each is explained on the Validated, Registered and On-Hold page.
If it is not Validated
If your status is On-Hold, or Registered and you want to upgrade to Validated, you complete a re-KYC or correction. It is usually straightforward. If the result confuses you, talk to us and we will help you read it.
How to check your KYC status online
- Open a KRA website. Go to an official KYC Registration Agency site, for example CVL KRA or CAMS KRA.
- Enter your PAN. Type your PAN into the KYC status enquiry field. No login or password is needed.
- Read your status. The site shows your status as Validated, Registered, or On-Hold, and the KRA that holds your record.
- Act if needed. If it is On-Hold or Registered and you want to upgrade, complete the required re-KYC or correction.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to log in to check my KYC status?
No. The KRA websites let you check your status using just your PAN, with no login or password. Enter your PAN on an official KRA site and the status appears immediately.
Which website do I use?
Any of the five SEBI-registered KRAs, such as CVL KRA or CAMS KRA, will show your status, since your record is shared across them. Use the official site directly rather than a link forwarded to you.
My status says On-Hold. What now?
On-Hold means a detail, often an unvalidated email or mobile, or a PAN-Aadhaar issue, needs fixing, and until it is you cannot transact. Complete the required correction or re-KYC. See our Validated, Registered and On-Hold page.
